Carving Pumkins

We lucked out this year and had warm weather on the day that we carved pumpkins, so we decided to keep the mess outside and so we carved the pumpkins in the garage. It was great because we could let the kids go to town on their pumpkins and not have to worry about it spilling on the floor.

This was the first year that Chloe actually wanted to touch the pumpkin guts with her hands and she loved it. Abby on the other hand complained every time some got on her hand and had to wipe it off.  First the kids colored their pumpkins and then told us what they wanted us to carve on it.  We had a lot of fun and the pumpkins turned out adorable (well mine was supposed to look really cool but yeah... it kinda flopped. That's the last time I use a patterns to cut out a face).

Party Time

This past Sunday, the Searles held a little family Halloween party at their house. All we knew coming into it was that we were supposed to wear hats and make sure that we weren't wearing too nice of clothes.  After we had our salad we figured out why.  When the main dish of spaghetti was served, it was plopped down in front of us right onto the table without any plates! Luckily for us, we still got to use forks to eat it with.  The sauce also was filled with rats, cockroaches, and spiders which the kids thought was so gross!

After dinner, we played some fun games and just enjoyed the evening.  Aaron won the best hat, but go figure- I didn't get a picture of him. I'll have to get one from Bob later.  Thanks again Barbara Ann for a great night!
All Abby ate that night was candy!

When Life Gives You Dirt, Get Dirty

Even though it has only been a few weeks, we are already getting sick of our dirt yard and are really looking forward to Spring when we -- Aaron =) -- can put the yard in. However, since we figure we can't keep the girls out of the dirt, we might as well embrace it. We throw the girls in their "dirty clothes" and just let them go to town. They dig it up, make mud, sit in it and make "food" out of it. You name it, they have done it.

Here are some pictures of them this morning. If you are wondering about the hats, Chloe got them so "the sun wouldn't get in Abby's eyes."  As cute as they are all dirty, we really like it when they're clean! Heere's to a early spring!

Pumpkin Patch

We took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch a few days ago and as always, it was a big hit! Chloe loved playing in the corn pit and Abby loved climbing on the hay. This is one of my favorite pumpkin patches because it has everything that my kids want to do at a pumpkin patch and its free! It's just off 400 South in Springville...if anyone wants to know.

We even got to take a tractor ride this year which the kids thought was way fun...they loved going over all the big bumps on the road. After the girls were all done playing, I let Chloe pick out her pumpkin. This year she chose a white pumpkin and she can't wait to carve it.

Mud Run

Aaron had so much fun doing the Dirty Dash this past spring that he signed up to do it again this month. I really wanted to do it with him, but with me being pregnant we figured it probably wouldn't be the best thing. So, Aaron called up Travis and convinced him to run it with him.  They ran the 10K and Aaron was surprised at how fast it went. I guess it's true that time flies when you're having fun. One of my favorite parts of the day was when I had to take Chloe to the bathroom. As you can imagine port-a-potties that have been used by hundreds of muddy people were not too appealing. So, when we got inside Chloe took one look and told me, "Um, I can wait until we get home." Here are some pictures from the finish line.

Jewelry

Chloe loves to make necklaces and bracelets with her beads. She has made herself tons of them and also loves to make them for other people. This time, the lucky recipient of Chloe's jewelry was Grandma Huntington, A.K.A. Grandma Doot-Doot.

Chloe found out that Grandma's favorite color was purple, so she made her a purple necklace and bracelet and added a few other colors that, "I know Grandma will love." After she made the necklace, she wrote a little note and left it and the jewelry in Grandma's room for her to find when she came home. Grandma, of course, loved the jewelry and wore it the rest of the night.

S'mores

For family night about a month ago, the Cummings invited us over to their house for s'mores. I have to admit, it was really nice getting to have yummy s'mores without having to have all the dirt from being up in the woods. =) The kids played all night in the backyard with their cousins and the adults got to sit around the fire and just enjoy each others company, it was a win-win night. Thanks again for the invite, Heather and Travis!

Tracy Aviary

I am totally playing catch up with my blogging, but I figure better late than never, right? Last month, I took the girls up to the Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake. I wasn't sure what to expect from a "bird zoo," but I have to say that overall it was pretty cool, and it was even better because it was free with our Pass of All Passes.  Chloe really wanted someone to come with us, so I called my dad and wrangled him into coming. Both girls loved seeing all the different kinds of birds and enjoyed watching the bird show. I wouldn't call it an all day event, but it was a good way to spend a few hours on a beautiful September day.

Dang Cute Kids

I may be a little biased, but I think I have some dang cute kids! Yesterday, I took the girls out for a little photo shoot. I wanted to get some updated photos of them and there is a perfect spot in American Fork to take pictures. So, I loaded them up, took some shots and here is what I got. I wish I could have gotten a cute one of the two of them together but oh well, that's life!

Splash Pad

Last week, we met up with some of our friends who had recently moved a bit farther up North. We were so sad to see them go because our kids were the best of friends. Chloe loved playing with Bentley and Abby loved playing with Vienna. So, since we are living a little closer to them while we are at my mom's house, we decided to meet up at the local splash pad.

You never would have guessed that the kids haven't seen each other for a few months because they just picked up right where they left off and started playing like old times. It was so much fun to watch them play and laugh with their friends, and as a bonus I got to hang out with my good friend Jana as well. It was a win-win day. =)
