School's Out For Summer!

Today is the first day of my summer break and I am loving it! I am totally looking forward to staying home with Chloe and playing with her all day long. At first, I thought we didn't have much planned for the summer, but as I am looking at the weekends, they are quickly filling up.

What I am not looking forward to is the end of summer because once again, I will be moving schools and this time, I am changing a lot more than just classrooms. For the past 5 years (this last year, part time) I have been teaching students with Autism in grades first through sixth. It has been a challenge, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I loved teaching those students and I have learned so much from them.

However, in order to stay home with Chloe as much as possible, I only want to continue teaching part time. So, in order to accommodate my request, next year my district is moving me to a small group special education unit p.m. Kindergarten at Lindon Elementary. This means that I will not only have students with Autism, but any number of challenges. It will be an adventure and right now I am pretty much freaked out because I have no idea what exactly I will be doing, but I guess I have all summer and next year, which will hopefully be my last year working, to figure it out. Wish me luck!

I am so happy that you are done for the summer! You and Chloe are going to have so much fun! I know that you will do great at your new school too. We need to get together this summer and let the girls play! Now that Eva is big enough to swim I am thinking about how much I will miss having that pool right across the road..darn it! I wish we still lived next door. I have been thinking lately how wonderful it was to have you as a Visiting Teacher and friend Devon. I just wanted to thank you because it really meant so much to me. Thank you!

Yahoo for summer!! All of your cute students have been so blessed to have you, and the good thing about your new job (besides being half-time) is that you're an awesome teacher and you'll do just fine. No worries. I've seen you in some interesting spots and you've pulled through beautifully every time. You go girl!
