When Life Gives You Dirt, Get Dirty

Even though it has only been a few weeks, we are already getting sick of our dirt yard and are really looking forward to Spring when we -- Aaron =) -- can put the yard in. However, since we figure we can't keep the girls out of the dirt, we might as well embrace it. We throw the girls in their "dirty clothes" and just let them go to town. They dig it up, make mud, sit in it and make "food" out of it. You name it, they have done it.

Here are some pictures of them this morning. If you are wondering about the hats, Chloe got them so "the sun wouldn't get in Abby's eyes."  As cute as they are all dirty, we really like it when they're clean! Heere's to a early spring!

Pumpkin Patch

We took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch a few days ago and as always, it was a big hit! Chloe loved playing in the corn pit and Abby loved climbing on the hay. This is one of my favorite pumpkin patches because it has everything that my kids want to do at a pumpkin patch and its free! It's just off 400 South in Springville...if anyone wants to know.

We even got to take a tractor ride this year which the kids thought was way fun...they loved going over all the big bumps on the road. After the girls were all done playing, I let Chloe pick out her pumpkin. This year she chose a white pumpkin and she can't wait to carve it.

Mud Run

Aaron had so much fun doing the Dirty Dash this past spring that he signed up to do it again this month. I really wanted to do it with him, but with me being pregnant we figured it probably wouldn't be the best thing. So, Aaron called up Travis and convinced him to run it with him.  They ran the 10K and Aaron was surprised at how fast it went. I guess it's true that time flies when you're having fun. One of my favorite parts of the day was when I had to take Chloe to the bathroom. As you can imagine port-a-potties that have been used by hundreds of muddy people were not too appealing. So, when we got inside Chloe took one look and told me, "Um, I can wait until we get home." Here are some pictures from the finish line.

Jewelry

Chloe loves to make necklaces and bracelets with her beads. She has made herself tons of them and also loves to make them for other people. This time, the lucky recipient of Chloe's jewelry was Grandma Huntington, A.K.A. Grandma Doot-Doot.

Chloe found out that Grandma's favorite color was purple, so she made her a purple necklace and bracelet and added a few other colors that, "I know Grandma will love." After she made the necklace, she wrote a little note and left it and the jewelry in Grandma's room for her to find when she came home. Grandma, of course, loved the jewelry and wore it the rest of the night.

S'mores

For family night about a month ago, the Cummings invited us over to their house for s'mores. I have to admit, it was really nice getting to have yummy s'mores without having to have all the dirt from being up in the woods. =) The kids played all night in the backyard with their cousins and the adults got to sit around the fire and just enjoy each others company, it was a win-win night. Thanks again for the invite, Heather and Travis!

Tracy Aviary

I am totally playing catch up with my blogging, but I figure better late than never, right? Last month, I took the girls up to the Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake. I wasn't sure what to expect from a "bird zoo," but I have to say that overall it was pretty cool, and it was even better because it was free with our Pass of All Passes.  Chloe really wanted someone to come with us, so I called my dad and wrangled him into coming. Both girls loved seeing all the different kinds of birds and enjoyed watching the bird show. I wouldn't call it an all day event, but it was a good way to spend a few hours on a beautiful September day.
